A large crowd of Kody’s family, friends, AGFC and Duck Unlimited members all gathered along the edge of the Black River to honor Kody Riggan’s memory with the re-dedication of the Datto Access to the Kody Riggan Datto Access. The access will serve as a memorial to Kody and his family for generations to come.

The Commission had recently accepted a donation of one and a half acres from Harold “Blue” Riggan of Corning, Kody’s father, bordering the access to increase parking and enable more hunters and anglers to enjoy Dave Donaldson Black River Wildlife Management Area.

Kody who loved his family, work and duck hunting had unexpectedly passed away Aug. 1, 2016 at the age of 46. He had spent many years duck hunting from little up with his father, Blue at the Dave Donaldson Black River WMA area.

“If using the land to enlarge the parking lot to helps get people out to the woods gave them half the great memories he and his son shared on that WMA, it was something I know Kody would have wanted. Our property is a neighbor to AGFC, so while your dozing if you need more land use it. My son always spoke of folks he met as a friend and that’s how we should all look at one another as friends and neighbors.” said Blue.

The Datto Access is situated in the heart of the WMA and is used heavily during many parts of the year, especially for waterfowl hunting. AGFC Commission Chairman Fred Brown stated:
“AGFC staff was in the process of securing exact boundary lines when a conversation with Blue got the ball rolling to expand the access.” said Brown.
“When I spoke to Blue, he was aware of all the crowded conditions you can have at the ramp because of its lack of parking that he generously donated an acre and a half of his land to help make it easier for people to access this wonderful place that his son loved so much. I really felt that it’s only right that we place Kody’s name on the access so the Riggans and everyone that sets foot on that area knows how important we feel those sorts of memories are. It’s what drives our staff to create and maintain the fantastic hunting opportunities we have in Arkansas.”

  9. lol a couple of the reviews bloggers write are silly and unrelated, there are times i wonder whether they at all read the post before writing or whether they just look at the subject of the blog post and compose the very first thought that drifts to their minds. But it is great to see a intelligent commentary every now and then in contrast to the exact same, traditional blog bull which I too many times notice on the blogs. Regards
