As dawn breaks, like so many before, I sit and soak it all in: the long summer days have passed and the harvest is in. Listening to the twitter of the nuthatches, the chirp of a chipmunk, the distant fly down cackle of a hen turkey; all signifying the beginning of a new day.
I watch as the squirrels begin to move in the branches overhead, and I inhale the crisp clean morning air. With all the happenings of the busy woodland world around me, I reflect on my own hectic life, but, with each breath, it slowly melts away.
Then I reminisce on the moments like these: the mornings in the woods with my dad as a kid, on the banks of a river or lake with my family, or around a bonfire at night with good friends. As a parent, I hope all children can experience these things. I hope we can instill in them an appreciation for all the beauty that surrounds us. This is true beauty. This is where our spirits are refreshed. This is our way of life. This is Arkansas Outdoor Country…
Welcome to Arkansas Outdoor Country Magazine.
Arkansas Outdoor Country Magazine (A.O.C) is everything real about living and loving life in Arkansas. Our publication is different from anything else you will find about Arkansas because the real folks who call Arkansas home actually read our publication! And people who aren’t from Arkansas can’t wait to get their hands on it and dig into what Arkansas life is all about!
Most publications in Arkansas fall into either one of three categories: Society (Ladies) Magazines, Hunting and Fishing (Mens) Magazines or Travel Magazines. The publications that fall into these categories are great but the problem we noticed…no one really reads them. (Really we checked!)
Why is that? Well because when you really think about it men usually don’t read society (ladies) magazines, ladies do not tend to read hunting and fishing (mens) magazines and no one, REPEAT NO ONE, in Arkansas reads travel magazines about Arkansas. Sure they may skimp over the society publications in the doctors office to see who is getting married or buzz through a travel brochure at the nature center once a year, but for the most part the people and the beauty of Arkansas life has been ignored. Advertisers especially haven’t been able to connect with the people of Arkansas to let them know about their products and services and that’s a loss for everyone!
This is why Arkansas Outdoor Country is the magazine for everybody. Our focus is very simple: showcase the real Arkansas to real Arkansans. Arkansas greatest features aside from all the outdoor fun are the people who call it home. We love bringing the stories of Arkansans to life. The heck of it is, the out-of-towner’s read our magazine to discover the real Arkansas! The places that aren’t in the travel brochures. We aren’t some fancy, hoity-toity “society” magazine. We aren’t just a “men’s only” magazine although sure, we admit we love hunting and fishing but it isn’t just for the fellas! We focus on issues that affect real Arkansans everyday, we tell the stories no one is telling all while doing everything we can to promote all there is to love about the Arkansas Outdoor Country way of life!
